Tivia Hylton, a 5’11 Forward from Columbus (OH) Beechcroft High School, joins the Wilberforce Lady Bulldogs roster for the 2014-2015 Season. Hylton was a stand-out student-athlete at Beechcroft, lettering in both basketball and track and field. “Tivia brings depth and athleticism to the forward position”, says Head Women’s Coach Iesha Gray. “She has a tremendous up-side and I’m excited to see the difference she will make on both ends of the floor.” Hylton is a scholar-athlete graduating with a GPA above 3.0.

Wilberforce Lady Bulldogs add another Africentric Lady Nubian to the roster with the addition of 5’7 Guard, Ayrielle Stith. Stith averaged 10 points 5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game this past season. Head Coach Iesha Gray adds, “Ayrielle is a utility player. I can’t think of one thing she cannot do effectively on the floor. She brings a winning mentality and certain toughness every successful team possesses.” Stith is a 2-time state champion and 3-sport student-athlete.
 
Jasmine Johnson Signs with Lady Bulldogs

Sophomore transfer, Jasmine Johnson will help the Lady Bulldogs rebuild at the guard position. Johnson signed a letter-of-intent to Wright State University during her junior year at Columbus (OH) Brookhaven High School. The 5’7 guard will hit the hardwood for the first time for the Lady Bulldogs this fall, with all four years of her eligibility remaining. In her senior season for the Bearcats, Johnson averaged 10.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game. “Jasmine is a hardworker and very skilled”, says Head Coach Iesha Gray. “She has the ability to defend, score, and make plays, I am looking forward to her contributions.”

Junior College transfer, Jasmine Parker joins the new backcourt for the Lady Bulldogs. Hailing from Romulus, Michigan, Parker led Romulus High School to a 15-6 record overall and undefeated 8-0 season in the Western Wayne Athletic Conference, Blue Division during the 2012-2013 seaon. She averaged 16.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.6 steals and 3.3 steals per game which earned her Class A All-State Honorable Mention recognition and she was a first-team all-conference and top 25 senior all-star selection. She was ranked as the No. 11 overall player in the state of Michigan by the Michigan Girls Basketball Report in 2013. “Jasmine is a game changer for our program”, says Head Coach Iesha Gray. “She is a scoring point guard and her ability to make plays on both ends of the floor will help bring versatility and depth at a must-need position at this level. Parker will have all 4 years of eligibility remaining.
 
Brooklynn Peterson Inks Letter of Intent

Brooklynn Peterson, a 5’7" point guard from Columbus (OH) Northland High School signed a letter-of-intent to Wilberforce University. Peterson was named 3rd Team All-Central District Division I averaging 14.1 points 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. In addition to being a captain, Peterson was also named one of Ohio District 10 top 10 girls’ basketball players. “Brooklynn is high energy and high skill”, says Head Coach Iesha Gray. “I’ve watched her play over the years and her game has evolved with each new challenged. I’m excited to see how she develops at this level.” Brooklynn is the younger sister of 2013 Ohio Ms. Basketball, Alexis Peterson, who is now a guard at Syracuse University.
 
Ayanna Colvin Signs with Lady Bulldogs

Georgia Perimeter College transfer, Ayanna Colvin will be reunited with former high school teammates this fall as she chooses to transfer to Wilberforce University to complete her eligibility. A 5’8 Guard/Forward, Colvin averaged 6.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. A former Columbus (OH) Northland High School stand-out, Colvin brings experience and scoring to very talented recruiting class. “I recruited Ayanna out of high school so to add her to the roster now is a huge accomplishment for the program”, stated Head Coach Iesha Gray. “She is a hardworking and talented kid that comes from a winning program in both high school and the junior college level. She will be a much needed component to building a successful program.”
 
Diamond Wright Returns to Wilberforce

Nashville, Tennessee native Diamond Wright returns to Wilberforce after pursing an academic opportunity at Ohio State University during the 2013-2014 season. The 5’8 guard has always been a defensive spark off of the bench for the Lady Bulldogs and is expected to bring leadership and integrity to the team, both on and off the court. Wright is a scholar-athlete, maintaining a 3.62 GPA while attending Wilberforce University. She plans to graduate with a degree in Rehabilitation. Once rivals, freshmen Ayrielle Stith (#15) and Brooklynn Peterson (#32) will bring competiveness and a winning mentality to the Wilberforce Women’s Basketball program’s young talented backcourt.
