The Rembert E. Stokes Library and Information Commons is located on the second and third floors of the Stokes Building. It houses a book collection of more than 70,000 volumes and has periodical indexes with 500 journal and magazine subscriptions, CD-ROM resources, pamphlets, and other undergraduate library resources. Electronic resources including e-books, journals and periodicals are available both on and off campus via the internet.
Individual computer carousels, along with Wi-Fi connection for laptop computers, as well as 75 individual study carrels, allow for a professional student atmosphere. In addition, the campus radio station and video production studio are located in the Stokes Library.
Wilberforce University Stokes Library and Information Commons engages students through bibliographic instruction both on an individual consultation basis as well as class/group sessions by appointment. The Academic Support Service’s ACE (Academic Center for Excellence) Lab is housed on the 2nd floor of the library and provides students with free tutoring and academic coaching from the Math and Writing Centers.
The Archives, located on the third floor, serves to preserve and make accessible the contributions and significance of Wilberforce University to its community, the State of Ohio, the United States and the world. It is a closed research collection of institutional memories highlighting the contributions of Wilberforceans and the environs. It is available only by appointment only.
