Scholarship Opportunities
PRESIDENTIAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
Wilberforce University offers a range of scholarships for 2025–2026 to support first-time freshman students with strong academic performance, family ties, or specific affiliations. Awards range from $1,500 to $12,000, with criteria including GPA, ACT/SAT scores, and in some cases, church membership or family connections. Most scholarships require full-time enrollment and maintaining a minimum GPA each academic year.
2026-27 Scholarships Opportunities
PRESIDENTIAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship Amount $12,000
Requirements
- Be first-time entering freshman
- Have a 3.5 GPA
- Have a minimum ACT score of 26 or SAT score of 1170
Maintain Scholarship
- Enroll and complete 30 semester hrs. each academic year
- Maintain between 3.5-4.0 GPA
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Scholarship Amount $ 7,000
Requirements
Be first-time entering freshman
Have a 3.25 GPA (4.0 scale)
Have a minimum ACT score of 24 or SAT score of 1090
Maintain Scholarship
Enroll and complete 30 semester hrs. each academic year
Maintain between 3.25 GPA
WILBERFORCE BULLDOG
Scholarship Amount $ 4,000
Requirements
- Be first-time entering freshman
- Have a 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale)
- Have a minimum ACT score of 21 or SAT score of 980
Maintain Scholarship
- Enroll and complete 30 semester hrs. each academic year
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0
FRESHMAN EXCELLENCE
Scholarship Amount $ 1,500
Requirements
- Be first-time entering freshman
- Have a 2.8- 2.99 GPA (4.0 scale)
- Have a minimum ACT score of 18- 20 or SAT score of 860-970
Maintain Scholarship
- One-time award
AME SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship Amount $ 4,000
Requirements
- Be a member of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church
- Provide a signed letter from your Pastor verifying your active church membership
- Have a 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale)
Maintain Scholarship
- Enrolled as a full-time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester
- Submit the FAFSA each academic year by required deadline
- Have a 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale)
WILBERFORCE UNIVERSITY SIBLING SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship Amount $2,500
Requirements
- Be first-time entering freshman
- Have a 3.5 GPA
- Have a minimum ACT score of 26 or SAT score of 1170
Maintain Scholarship
- Enroll Enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester)
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Submit FAFSA annually
WILBERFORCE UNIVERSITY LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship Amount $4,000
Requirements
- Be a first-time freshman
- Have at least one parent who is a graduate of Wilberforce University
- Provide documentation verifying:
- Your family relationship
- Your parents’ graduation from Wilberforce University
- Ensure your parents are:
- Active in a recognized alumni chapter or
- A financial donor to the university within the past 12 months
- Have a 2.7 GPA
- Be enrolled full-time
Maintain Scholarship
- Enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester)
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher
- Submit FAFSA each academic year
