VETERAN & MILITARY CONNECTED STUDENTS

Veterans and their eligible dependents may use benefits they have earned through service to our country at Wilberforce University. There are several benefit programs available and the steps to access them are as follows:

  1. Contact your local Veterans Administration (VA) office to obtain a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility. This form shows which benefit program(s) for which you are eligible and for how long you are eligible.
  2. Submit this form to the Registrar’s Office either in-person on the campus of Wilberforce University in the Wolfe Building on the first floor, Monday-Friday from 8am – 5pm or by email at registrar@wilberforce.edu.
  3. Once received, the Registrar’s Office will certify your enrollment to the VA and, depending on which benefit you receive, either you will receive the payment and use it to pay your fees at Wilberforce University, or the VA will send the payment directly to Wilberforce University. Please remember that eligibility for benefits and the payment amount is determined by the VA, not Wilberforce University.

All Veteran-approved programs at Wilberforce University are listed with the Department of Veteran Affairs. To see a full list of majors currently approved for VA benefits, visit the VA’s WEAMS Institution Search and search for Wilberforce University.  Select our profile and select ‘programs’ to view the current list of programs.

Veterans Benefits and Transition Act (VBTA) Policy Statement

Wilberforce University in accordance with the Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018 will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, the denial of access to classes, libraries or other institutional facilities, or the requirement that a Chapter 31 or Chapter 33 recipient borrow additional funds to cover that individual’s inability to meet his or her financial obligations to the institution due to the delayed disbursement of a payment by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. This policy is limited to tuition funds paid by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.
