In a display of exceptional skill and sportsmanship, members of the Wilberforce University golf team showcased their talents at the 2023 Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Golf Classic.
Named for the late African American businessman and philanthropist, “Tommy” Dortch, Jr., the tournament was held from September 24 to 26 at the Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge (near Atlanta), Georgia. The event brought together some of the most promising golfers from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the nation, and Wilberforce University’s representatives did not disappoint.
Congratulations are in order for the remarkable achievements of the Wilberforce University golfers: Nelson Stone, Corey Lynn-Patton, Jr., Patrick Rukundo, Emmanuel Nshimiyimana, and Yves Tuyishime. These dedicated athletes demonstrated their commitment to excellence and represented Wilberforce University with grace and skill throughout the tournament.
In a field of talented golfers, the Wilberforce University team stood out. Five WU players finished within the top 40 rankings, showcasing their impressive abilities and determination.
